Ryan Leaf

Ryan Leaf is back in the news because of his health issues and because he's written a book.

He had surgery a few months ago for a brain tumor and now they've determined that they didn't get it all so now he's headed for the dreaded chemo and radiation. That doesn't sound good.

This is sounding more and more like Lyle Alzado to me. It's very rare to get a brain tumor in your mid 30s and we know Leaf had substance abuse problems, but my guess is that included steroid use as that would explain his mood swings and outbursts as a player.

If that's the case then that's a waste and a shame but there's no doubt that he's got a tough road to hoe ahead of him.
