I always assumed he would be the guy to follow Rick Sweet, but I would not be surprised at all if he became hitting coach in AA, with the brand new team and former major league manager to learn from.
Managing is a little bit different from coaching. I think with coaching, they want to see how you do with the "hands on" molding of players at the lower levels first, where as with managing its more about handing personalities, giving advice and making decisions on strategies and such. Different jobs.

I agree which is why I think Corky will be the exception. The Reds have seen him hands on coaching players for years.

I don't see Corky being a coach though. A manager, absolutely.

I see him spending a year as a coach, then managing.

oddly enough, bullpen coach or pitching coach of some kind. perhaps even a roving instructor. Been enough pitchers at AAA raving about the things Corky has said that makes me think he might be the next Dave Duncan.

The following video is posted on the Blue Wahoos twitter account. Really cool link that brings you up to date on the very fast progression of the field and park. Green grass is down and things look really good to date. The head groundskeeper hosts this piece.

When was that RZ board gathering in Pensacola again?

Re: Riggleman named Wahoo's first manager

The reds farm system sure took a hit this offseason, but the Reds quietly are developing some future managers. Bell, Sweet, Griffey Sr., Riggleman, DeShields are all guys who are known and supposedly well respected around baseball.

Re: Riggleman named Wahoo's first manager

The hitting coach and pitching coach for the Wahoo's will be Tony Jaramillo and Tom Brown.

Re: Riggleman named Wahoo's first manager

In that it took as long as it did to name the staff, I had given up on Tom Brown. Glad he's back.
