Arguments about being all in aside, I would hope Gonzalez actually
is pretty cheap if the Reds sign him. Based on the
report from MLB trade rumors, it seems other teams are mainly interested in offering him a minor league deal, and his ERA/FIP/xFIP were all up last year from 2010. His main value seems to be as a lefty specialist, and relievers in that role simply don't demand much in terms of salary.
Of course, he is a Scott Boras client, so that could change the analysis. . . .
