Re: 4/24/12 - Reds vs Giants

I enjoyed how Votto threw the ball back to the pitcher after he got plunked.

Re: 4/24/12 - Reds vs Giants

Good game by Latos. He stayed with his fast ball more rather than nibbling with his off speed stuff. I think Hanigan behind the plate helped too. Good to see the bats starting to come to life. Good chance to really rack up some wins in the next two weeks with the Cubs,Astros and Pirates the next three series.
I thought it was great to see the Reds honor UK's championship. Castellini knows Kentuckians or transplanted Kentuckians make up a good chunk of the paying customers. Despite what a few others may think I believe it is very good marketing. I saw a picture of Calipari before the game with Dusty. Dusty needs to keep him around for some good in game coaching advice. It helped tonight.

Also want to mention the HP umpire was horribly inconsistent. I had never heard of him,Capalooza?, or something like that was his name. I am assuming he is a rookie. He needs to go back to AAA to work on his consistency IMO.

I did some lip reading of Posey. He called same a piece of turd. Bochey was upset too. For some reason, Posey is off limits to the physical nature of the game since he is now not allowed to block the plate anymore according to his manager. How thenthitive to little Buster's value.

I agree with the thought process here. I also think throwing behind the batter is more useful in that sense than hitting him outright. It's the Reds way of saying, "I don't know for sure if you were trying to hit our $250 million man, but in case you were, we'll be happy to retaliate."

I also have no issue with Posey or Bochey taking umbrage to it. They're supposed to take umbrage to it. That's the point. They didn't make a capital case(like say a hypothetical team situated 320 miles west of GABP) They simply showed some displeasure and then returned to play.

I think that episode and the way the Reds handled it will go a long way in building team unity. For some reason that part hasn't seem to be there this season. Quite honestly the Reds in past years have let a lot of things like that go without doing anything. You have to sometimes just to let the other guy know you can't and won't be bullied.
