Samardzija has been impressive. Mid-90s heat, good location, with lots of sink and action on his pitches.

Exactly. His slider (I'm assuming) is pretty nasty too. That ain't chopped liver on the bump.

Cozart batting 1st: .171/.237/.257/.494.
Batting 2nd: .354/.415/583/.988.

And yet he's batting leadoff tonight. #dustyball

Scoring 4+ in 7 straight and 9 of 10, with games where 9 runs were scored twice and 6 were scored another three times, is very far from anemic.

We make average pitchers look like Randy Johnson.

Same can be said for Stubbs. Find me a Reds hitter who IS finding success leading off. Worst in the NL right now in the #1 hole.

We made Adam Wainwright look like he belonged in a softball league.

Samardzija is an above average pitcher.

And having thrown only 61 pitches, he will finish this one out. With his ERA coming in, it looked like me might score some runs, but Reds hitters were quick to swing.
