Here is a list of the top NL rookies in HR's. A lot of Reds near the top of the list.

Re: 2012 NL Rookie of the Year?

Harper will garner the attention. Will need some stats to back it up. Likewise, it will take some overpowering numbers from someone else to cover up the hype.

Of course, Harper is clearly the best rookie hitter so far this year and I don't think it is particularly close. He is hitting for average, drawing plenty of walks and hitting for power. His plate discipline is outstanding (much less considering what it is for his age), so he is likely to continue doing what he is doing if we can assume he keeps his peripherals the same.

Todd Frazier has been outstanding in terms of his slash line, but he also has a 4-1 K-BB rate, suggesting there will be plenty of correction coming it's way unless he fixes that. And outside of Todd Frazier, no other hitter is even in the same stratosphere as Harper right now from the rookie class in overall production.
