That's why I can't second guess the Hamilton or Latos deals. I liked them at the time.

Command is whether you can get it over the plate. Then you want to control the plate. Then velocity/movement come in as the final determinate.

Pirates are scoring 3 runs a game and have a winning record. Pitching.

The problem is the Pirates have a good bullpen. And even though Burnett is a loser, its not like he has a lot of pressure on him pitching for the Pirates. Plus he's right handed.

Dusty was smart to take Homer out, he wasn't right tonight. Don't want to risk injury. Probably last cool night/extended time off start for him to September at least.

I wonder if Bailey is hurt (again)? Only 3 innings with a little over 70 pitches.

I concur. No sense in sending Homer back out.

Walker is a good hitter...I'm surprised he's only around .270

Depends. Getting the ball over the plate and then "controlling" the plate are 2 different things.

Re: Reds vs. Pirates Tuesday 6/5

David Cone says its all about recovery time. Give pitchers extra time to recover. He had no problem with Santana throwing a ridiculous number of pitches in the no hitter as long as he is given plenty of time to recover- maybe even miss a start.

Cone says hes a big believer in the Verduci rules but not so much on pitch count as on recovery time. He likes having six starters so as to give each pitcher more rest.
