6/13/2012 Reds vs Native Americans Part II

Here's the Indians lineup. Same as last night except for the pitcher. Latos is going for the Reds tonight. He's replacing Leake who has that virus that is going around the Reds clubhouse.

1. Shin-Soo Choo (L) RF
2. Asdrubal Cabrera (S) SS
3. Jason Kipnis (L) 2B
4. Carlos Santana (S) C
5. Michael Brantley (L) CF
6. Johnny Damon (L) LF
7. Casey Kotchman (L) 1B
8. Lonnie Chisenhall (L) 3B
9. Derek Lowe (R) P

It will be interesting to see what the Reds will put out there tonight with all their sickness. I saw a pretty cool article where Dusty said he was sick playing for LA Dodgers and Lasorda wouldn't let him go home and he was in uni laying on the training table. They came and got him in the 11th and he hit a game winning HR. He said he didn't even remember it. Love those classic old stories.

Mike Piazza tells the story that when he was a rookie, he tweaked something trying to hit home runs in BP with Eric Davis and Darryl Strawberry. The trainer told him he'd better go talk to Tommy, so went into the office, told Lasorda what happened, and Lasorda said, "You know, Mike, you're important to us and we want you healthy for the long haul. You just tell me what you think is best."

Piazza said, "Well, to be honest, I really don't think I can play tonight."

"You CAN'T PLAY? What the F***? You telling me you CAN'T PLAY? J**** C*****! . . ."

Good lord, that's a TON of lefties. The 2 non-lefties are switch hitters no less. This is one of the main reasons I was suggesting we look to the Indians as a trading partner. They need pitching and right handed hitters from what I can see. Something we have abundant supply of IMO.

Lefties are crushing Latos this year, with a line of .317/.379/.583/.962 (for his career, though, Latos has kept LHHers to a pedestrian .703 OPS). Still, this doesn't look like a real good matchup for Latos, especially given the Little League fence in right field.

And Valdez had a good game last night, but he has no business batting second. Lowe is going to mow him down tonight.

hopefully 2 nights in a row we can get those lefties out. Cueto hasn't been good against lefties this year either so maybe Latos can find some magic.

Good start for Latos.

Votto with the sacrifice. (Or at least that's what Verlander would argue)

BP single up the middle, Valdez scores.

1-0 Reds.
