Wow. What is going on. How to describe this. The Padres put on a shift. So Valdez attempts to steal 3rd. Volquez sees it and basically catches Phillips off base. Then for some unknown reason Valdez decides I will try for home and is out by a mile.

They put the shift on. Valdez saw third base was uncovered. He ran to third. Might have worked.

But Phillips got the idea he had to run too, from first. Throw went back to first, then a rundown ensued.

You have to try for home in that spot if you're Valdez. That was all on Phillips.
