Re: Saturday 7/14/2012 Minor-League Updates

Dayton has rallied to go ahead 6-5 in the seventh. Four consecutive guys in the order have two hits each--Wright (with a triple), Waldrop, Yovan Gonzalez (double) and Silva.

Yorman's double makes it 7-5 Dayton in the eighth.

Carlos Contreras gives up a run in the ninth but holds it together to save a nice win for the Dragons, 7-6.

Billings is getting routed 7-0 in the seventh. Just two hits for the Mustangs. Consider that they scored 16 runs in the final two innings last night.

Also, he hit three batters tonight. Surprised there wasn't a fight. Perhaps he is working on a new pitch.

Lotzkar has definitely been a disappointment in AA.

A lot of these guys come up from Dayton and then to Bakersfield and really dont realize how big a jump it is playing in AA.

He's 22 and in AA don't sweat it, he can repeat next year and should with his innings pitched career wise. Also Doug pointed at he is nearing a career high in innings.

The jump ain't that high between Bakersfield and Pensicola ....for a pitcher. I'd venture to say it's not much of a jump at all.

Re: Saturday 7/14/2012 Minor-League Updates

Donald Lutz, who has been struggling a bit since coming back from the DL and rehab, cracked a 2-run shot in the eighth inning last night to lift Bakersfield to a 5-3 victory. Our boys managed only four hits.

Josh Smith, Blaine Howell and Pat Doyle pitched well.

The AZL lads are troubled. They blew a 3-run lead in the bottom of the ninth last night and lost in 11, 5-4. But Vaughn Covington was sharp over two innings, and Michael Salter for 2.2.

My boy Tanner Rahier has been slumping lately. Hopefully he turns it around.
