Re: 7.19.12 Diamondbacks @Reds 12:35 start

Cairo grounds out.

The D'Backs have the meat of their order up in the 9th. Hill, Kubel, Goldschmidt. Followed by Upton.

I'm not down on Marshall. His WHIP is a bit high this year, he's given up his share of runners, and mostly on base hits. I agree that his peripheral numbers are very good.

Nope. I don't see any reason why he couldn't pitch today.

His higher WHIP can be directly attributed to his .375 BABIP against, despite a very low LD%. Simply put, just bad luck. His GB rate has never been better either.

Ludwick grounds out to short.

Here we go. 7-6 Reds to the 9th.

Oh, right.

Hope I'm wrong, but I have a bad feeling about Chapman here. Facing mostly righties, 5th game in 7 days.

I usually doubt the bad luck reasoning, but here I'd agree.

Marshall has K'd 44 in 34.2 innings. So he hasn't allowed a lot of contact over the season.

For me, a crazy high BABIP ain't just all luck. Definitely some, but he's thrown some stinkers as well. Hard hit groud balls, while technically not line drives, have similar results as line drives.

Marshall is still very good overall, but he's not been as good this season as he has been the previous two.

LOL that MLB's gamecast had Aroldis Chapmans 98mph fastball as a nasty factor of 42 out of 100. Do they know what "nasty" is?
