The Big 3 Awards.....

Could this happen........

Todd Frazier.... ROY
Johnny Cueto.... Cy Young
Joey Votto..... MVP

Has this ever happened in the past???

I think all 3 have a great shot at each award.....

Whoa. I can't imagine there's any way that happens--the weirdest thing about baseball awards is voters tend to look at a whole lot of other factors than player-isolated statistics (history, team performance, etc.). Particularly with Joey missing a month. But look at this:

OPS: Votto 1.069, first place
Rookie OPS (min. 200 PAs): Frazier .872, first place
ERA+: Johnny Cueto 187, first place

That may be cherry picking a little bit. How about WAR?

WAR: Votto 4.8, fifth place
Rookie WAR: Frazier 1.8, first place
Pitching WAR: Cueto 3.5, third place

Its possible. At this point Frazier should be the frontrunner for ROY although he probably isn't. It may come down to Votto and McCutchen for MVP but Votto is the underdog right now. Matt Kemp, Ryan Braun, David Wright, Melky Cabrera and Carlos Gonzalez will be considered too. Cueto has a shot at the Cy Young and you might even throw Aroldis Chapman into the mix if he continues to dominate at an historic rate.

Actually Frazier's WAR is not first. Wade Miley is at 2.6

If Bryce Harper continues to stand upright and doesn't spit on any umpires or get caught betting on baseball there's no way the writers skip over him no matter who deserves it...imo of course

I was thinking about this yesterday. Against NL opponents, Chapman now has a .21 ERA.

If there was ever a time for a closer to win the Cy Young...

So who would you guys say IS the Cy Young leader right now? I'd say it Cueto without a doubt...ESPN has Hanrahan, then Dickey, then Cueto.

Wait, Joel Hanrahan as Cy Young? Are you serious bro?

CYP: In The Neyer/James Guide To Pitchers -- co-authored by Bill James and ESPN.com's Rob Neyer presents a method, based on past results, to predict Cy Young balloting. This page provides an in-season snapshot of the Cy Young "race," as figured by the following formula: Cy Young Points (CYP) = ((5*IP/9)-ER) + (SO/12) + (SV*2.5) + Shutouts + ((W*6)-(L*2)) + VB (see below).
VB: Victory Bonus is a 12-point bonus awarded for leading your team to the division championship (pro-rated based on the current standings)
Saves are an over inflated stat in their formula, and they don't deduct for blown saves (?!?). My guess is Chapman gets more CY votes than Hanrahan does.

How do you figure Frazier should be the frontrunner over Wade Miley?

Melky Cabrera might be the MVP right now.

Did I just say that?
