I noticed it during the game. He doesn't throw that many strikes. He throws "near - strikes". It bothers me that my cousin, you and I, and other fans "know" this but Reds scouts and players don't know it.

His yearly walk rate has always been pretty bad until this season. More than likely hitters are being overly aggressive.
In fairness to our hitters, the ump had a pretty wide strike zone today. This was going to be a tough game to win. I think we all knew that coming in.

I really didn't expect to win it because of the way AJ is pitching and Homer's last outing, but we helped it along. That first inning running blunder and the impatience of our hitters was all it took. In the first they hit him hard and only one big hit the rest of the game. And they didn't work him to get him out of there. Just frustrating.

One loss. No worries.

I have to be honest. This was perhaps the first game this year where I easily blew off and accepted a loss. Sure, put the dagger in and all that stuff, but this team deserves a day off even on a game day.

The only thing I hoped for today was a solid outing out of Bailey. Anything else would be gravy after going 5-1 on the current home stand.

We have to finally realize that Homer does not pitch that well in GAB...his stats prove it. It was a very humid day and he's a fly ball pitcher...I am hoping once the weather breaks in September and it's cooler he will have better stuff.

If we make the playoffs I would not schedule him to pitch at GAB.

Neither does Leake (he has the worst ERA)... But he's a ground ball pitcher.
