Sour grapes I say. You'd never expect that from any of the Reds announcers if it was the other way. And heck, they're about to pick up another game and they're at home for a while.

I see no harm in the clubs announcer getting excited when their club is playing well. Someone broadcasting on national tv / radio is another story.

Re: 8/7/2012 Reds at Brew Crew

Fiers has a nice overhand curve but can't top 90 with his fastball. He's just moving the ball all around and the Reds are hacking. 18 up and down. Jeeze!

They need Votto back.

Suddenly, the Reds are playing like the incapable bunch we thought they would when he went down.

Fiers is through 6 on only 66 pitches. Still a perfect game.

But they're Pirates announcers. They're around the team every day. You expect them to not root for them?

We were due to cool down with or without Votto. Nature of the beast.

It's a matter of degree. I watch on EI and get a lot of road announcers. Also see the Reds announcers a lot.

Most of them try to be reasonably objective, and do get excited at key moments.

Pirates announcers are always "playoff" excited. Just too much IMO.
