Re: 9.5.12 Phillies @ Reds (the Start of the Didi Gregorius era and the Return of Vot

This would be a fantastic game for the Reds to come back and win.

/just sayin.

On a player by player basis you can assess how meaningful that actually is, but that's all the number really tells us.
I used the word "calculated" incorrectly.

It's calculation is what it is. You really can't calculate it incorrectly as long as you can add and subtract.

I meant how "xFIP is derived". If pitcher's HR/FB rates differ becuase of different skill sets (as opposed to luck), then there is (in my mind) a flaw in how xFIP is derived.

Gregorius' walk-up music is a mixed "Notorious".

It would appear, based on the charting on At Bat, that Halladay is getting his standard on-deck circle to on-deck circle strike zone.

Yep. The strike three call on Rodriquez was a good six inches off the plate. Not going to comeback with a strike zone like that.

Leake's a ground ball pitcher.

But if his HR/FB rate is high, that will erase the advantage of being a GB pitcher. Now will carry forward? I don't know.
