The Avett Brothers
Bob Dylan
Swans
The xx

I'm going to pick up Cat Power's new album this week, too. I was really disappointed by The Raveonettes' last album, so I'm probably going to give it a listen before I consider buying it. Has anyone here heard it yet? If so, what did you think?
I've heard the xx is much too slow compared to their debut . Are you in the same boat?

It's definitely slower, but it's still good. I prefer the first album, but it's not a night/day difference or anything.

Yup. I love their last two albums. I still haven't gotten to listen to their first two though. Are they worth buying?

Heard some on Pandora, due to the weaker production not as solid IMO

Haven't listened to Centipede Hrz yet, but for my money Strawberry Jam and Feels are their best albums.
I saw both Animal Collective and Black Dice in 2011 at the Collective's homecoming show at Merriweather Post Pavilion. The Black Dice were just loud; Animal Collective was interesting, their fans much more so.

New Tegan and Sara - should be awful but it's so good
New Thao Nguyen - some really great songs
New The Knife - haven't heard it yet but it's already my album of 2013

It's from back around 2008 or 2009, but I can't stop listening to The Rural Alberta Advantage's debut album, Hometowns. It boasts a great mix of folksy song-writing with pop instrumentation and impressive drum rhythms.

Count me in on the Knife hype train. Silent Shout has aged really well imo.

I've been a bit preoccupied lately with the 22 year followup LP to the greatest album of all time.
