If the playoff situation remains as it is now, with the Nats having Home Field and the Braves/Cards as the WC's would the Nats play the Braves if they win the play-in game? I didn't think the first seed played the WC if they were in the same division.

That is changed this year. That 1 seed will play the wild card game winner regardless.
