9/23/12 - Dodgers vs. Reds

Heisey 7
Valdez 6
Votto 3
Frazier 5
Cairo 4
Phipps 9
Stubbs 8
Hanigan 2
Bailey 1

– 8:06 p.m. vs. Dodgers. NOTE: Kershaw starting for Dodgers instead of Harang, the Dodgers announced today.

–At this hour, there is no Dusty Baker update from the Reds. Acting manager Chris Speier again will do the pre-game session with reporters.

Ugly lineup, but what the hell, they've earned it.

I would rather see Rodriguez than Cairo. I like Henry.

I thought Frazier would get the day off, but I guess he said he's not tired. Joey should probably play most of the games to get his timing squared away. They'll get either 2 or 3 days off between the last game and 1st playoff game.

Glad to see Phipps get another start. Had a good game in his first one.

Cairo needs to get ready for a probable spot on the post-season roster.

Henry needs to get ready for AAA next year and a probable call up sometime during the season.

Re: 9/23/12 - Dodgers vs. Reds

If Reds win tonight they will have the best record in baseball at this late date. Quite an accomplishement, hope they prevail although mostly second string lineup.

Grounder to Cairo off Bailey's glove, one out for the Dodgers.

Ethier up now, falls behind 0-2. Now 2-2. Grounds out Votto to Bailey.

Wonder how many of these guys are throwing up between innings?

Why not during innings?

Kemp up now. Homer gets ahead on a foul. Now 1-2. Homer with 13 pitches. Now 2-2.

Strike three swinging.

Isn't it wonderful to be in this position? Just enjoying this.

FTR, Phipps is batting 5th and Cairo 6th. Fay noted this correction, though of course he still screwed up, showing Phipps both above and below Cairo.

Heisey coming up against Kershaw. One might surmise the first pitch will be a strike. Let's see what happens.

Re: 9/23/12 - Dodgers vs. Reds

So, Heisey leads off the bottom of the first. And, to my surprise, takes a ball, but it was rather high.

Heisey ahead 2-0. Then a high strike, 2-1. Foul. Heisey ultimately gets hit by the pitch. Close call, unusually, goes to the Reds.
