It's a classic managerial error.

Pitcher, Homer Bailey, leads off next inning. Manager reluctant to remove him. Figures, I'll just pinch hit next half inning.

So the pitcher gets left in too long. Happens all the time. Almost never works.

Arredondo in. I'm dropping out of play by play, I'm not bringing good luck and the Reds still have a chance.

Ellis doubles, Dodgers score. 4-1 LA. Jose has nothing.

Jose might be the pitcher left off the roster...if they go with a extra position player..

Re: 9/23/12 - Dodgers vs. Reds

1st and 3rd with no outs was the time to take out Homer.

But either way, the bigger issue to me is on the other side. I remember a simpler time. A time when the Reds scored runs.

I'd be willing to sacrifice the top seed if it guaranteed me the Brewers or Dodgers beat out the Cardinals for the last spot. Yes, I'm that vindictive.

Hanagan shaken up on a wild low Arredondo. Got hit in the neck area. He seems to be OK.

Nibbled in the infield. Arredondo gets a late start and a run scores. 5-1 LA. Kemp up.

I agree. Would you want the #1 seed? The #1 seed is going to have to face the hottest NL team. The wild card team will have won most of the games these next two weeks and they would have won the one game playoff...and you play them at their ballpark.

I'd rather be the #2..play San Fran

Kemp K's, but the damage is done. And you thought you were bad luck, KC.

Re: 9/23/12 - Dodgers vs. Reds

Homer ends up allowing 5 runs in 6.2 innings and his ERA swells to 3.92. With a little help from Arredondo. Jose should not be on the playoff roster.
