Andy Williams Has Passed Away

Andy Williams passed away this morning in Branson Missouri after suffering from bladder cancer for the last year. I will always remember his Christmas specials that were on every year when I was young. He was most famous for singing Moon River.

Re: Andy Williams Has Passed Away

My brother-in-law was born in 1956 while his Dad was in the Navy stationed at Norfolk. Williams would play clubs out there and his folks got to know him when they were there. From time to time, Williams would tell his folks to go out on a date and he'd watch Pat for them, so he can say Andy Williams was his babysitter.

^ Great story RM!

Here's a youtube of him singing Moon River. It really doesn't get much better than this.

Loved The Andy Williams Show as a kid. Always waited for that Bear to show up and ruin the show. And his Christmas specials were some of the best too. I remember him best for this song:

Re: Andy Williams Has Passed Away

Andy Williams was nuts about my gramma in high school; they attended Western Hills together. She allowed him one date and he wanted more, but she refused. Sometimes I tease her by saying she really missed the boat on that one. Then I remember that if she had gotten on that boat, I wouldn't be here.

It's very possible my dad was at some of those same shows. He grew up in Norfolk and would've been the right age, and I know he was a big Andy Williams fan.
