Although I'm not at the games, the only time I've noticed it on TV was the extra inning game when there were 500 people left. Maybe it's annoying when you're at the games, but so are a lot of other things. Over the air, I don't even know it's going on. And personally, I couldn't care less if the players like it.

Not sure how you can miss hearing it on TV unless you have the sound turned all the way down, which I am tempted to do. Annoys me to no end.

Re: According to Jim Day, Players Hate the Woos
In town from Montana and went to the last two games. Some idiot behind us was doing the "woo" and I thought my 77-year-old Dad was going to deck him at one point.
I did not notice the "woo" during Frazier's HR or on Bruce's single or Navarro's walk off "triple," as the yelling simply overpowered every other sound. There is no rhyme or reason to the "woos." On Wednesday night I heard more of them than during the day game yesterday. On Wednesday, trailing by so many runs, it seemed completely out of place and somewhat sad sounding. Idiots were doing the "woo" regardless of who was up to bat or what scenario was at hand. I admit to having chuckled about it on telecasts from far away, but when at the games I found it entirely annoying. Maybe it's a sign that I am "old" at 50+? |

Re: According to Jim Day, Players Hate the Woos
I don't think it's going to be a problem at the playoff games as emotion is spent on every single pitch and every single swing of the bat. If it is still front and center during a playoff game, it is a black eye on the Reds fan base as far as I am concerned.
I think it dies off over the winter.

You do it the same time you should be doing the wave: never.

It's the Honey Boo Boo of stadium antics. And I can guarantee that's how everyone outside of Cincinnati sees it.

Re: According to Jim Day, Players Hate the Woos
Based on the games I've been to and comments in this thread, I think the preferred time to woo is during the most annoying times possible.
