Re: Postseason Scoreboard watching....

That was an absolute abortion of a call. I would be angry if I was a Braves fan.

You might as well invoke the infield fly rule on anything in the air.

I just can't get over this. What a brutal, brutal call. This shouldn't happen in the post-season.

It wouldn't have happened in the regular season (no LF ump).

Re: Postseason Scoreboard watching....

If the Braves don't come back and win this I think we're gonna see a soccer-style riot in Atlanta.

One question I've always wanted to ask, not sure you can answer it, but since you're an umpire, I'll ask you anyway.

Why does MLB have the infield fly rule? If I guy pops up with runners on base, why shouldn't it be a double play, if the infielders are smart enough to pull it off. It's not like the hitter did anything good and is being punished?

Re: Postseason Scoreboard watching....

Braves have put the game under protest. Good for them.

Judgement calls are not protestable.

Re: Postseason Scoreboard watching....

It looks to me like the Cardinal shortstop is dodging the ball a few seconds before the infield fly rule was called...so saying he let the ball drop because of the call seems flat out wrong.
Absolutely horrible call. I guess short fly balls are not infield flies. Swell.

The only good news is that it didn't happen in a Reds game.
