With apologies for missing this discussion elsewhere on RZ if I did, why Arroyo for game 2? Feel like Bailey would be the obvious better bet. Or Leake for that matter.
Respectfully, I disagree. Every win is important, yes. But I have no concerns about the game tonight. If we win, let's break out the brooms. If not, the Reds have three at home. Winning the first two is awesome, but my main concern was not getting swept in SF, which they have avoided. If the series comes home to GABP tied, I won't be devastated. Whatever game they won in SF was the key game...anything else is just gravy.

Different view but of course totally fine and appreciated. To me, while a loss tonight of course doesn't mean an LDS series loss (which the Reds would still be very likely to win), it has implications for the path beyond to LCS and, hopefully, WS.

Here's a partial answer to the "why Arroyo" question if anyone else is interested and hadn't seen it. With apologies to the mods if not cool to link to other sites here (?). Didn't see that in the rules, which I tried to review fully before posting yesterday for the first time.

Frazier needs to be in this game.

Agreed. He said he was feeling good lately. I just think he's a big game player.

A lot of fans would have been happy to come home 1-1, but I really want this one bad.

GO REDLEGS!

Re: Reds vs. Giants Sunday 10/7 NLDS Game 2

I think Frazier will pinch hit tonight. And hopefully Votto can bang out a single or two while doing his usual great job at first.

But the game will ride on Arroyo's shoulders imho. If he steps up, we're on the way to a sweep. If he doesn't, we win in 4 or 5 but a bit worse for wear headed into LCS.

First pitch!

Alonso will be playing 1B for the REDS and batting 4th one year from today. - Kingspoint, July 9, 2009
