Now they have Chris Carpenter starting in game one of the NLCS, what a dumb random game with a long meaningless season.
They were also smart enough to go get Carlos Beltran.

Which is exactly what the Reds should have done.

Ludwick was better and cheaper.
.269/.346/.495/.842 for CB
.275/.346/.531/.877 for RL

Not good enough.

Those stats don't mean much now, do they? Beltran, going to San fan...Luddy, going to the couch.

Sour grapes, incapable of giving credit.

Ludwick didn't make JC get hurt in the playoffs did he?

More classic Cards fans showing just how stupid they honesty are, Nats don't have Ace and lose and Reds lose ace and lose and that makes Beltran better than Ludwick since his team didn't advance.

Good job Cards way to have the 11th best record in MLB! Nice work finishing 9 games out of the division and 6 games out of the WC.

I meant we should have tried to get them both.

Ludwick-Bruce-Beltran

Instead, they stuck with Stubbs, who was horrible. And had a lineup that was way too RH.

Reds sign Beltran to play RF and they're still playing baseball. But they let the Cards pull off yet another coup.

Re: Postseason Scoreboard Watching

In the 2000's the teams with the most wins in the season have a 75-66 record, the teams with the least amount of wins are 72-66 and both the Tigers and Cards who were tied for the 11th best record in baseball are still alive. So if they combined to win 4 games the teams who had the fewest regular season wins in the 2000's will have won more playoff games than the teams with the best records.

That's a bad stat for baseball

If MLB is going to dumb down the playoffs the teams with the best record in each league should earn 5 1st round home games. That will give them something legit to fight for. Another issues is the rank them 1-5 and make the worst two 2 teams play in WC game, finishing 2nd in stacked divisions like the AL East and West is more impressive than winning the AL Central with just 88 wins.

You call me stupid yet say the Nats had no ace? I guess Gio being one of the top runners for the Cy Young means nothing.

My point was that your throwing out stats is pointless. Who was better in the DCS?

Want to talk stupid? With Gio falling apart AND Storen on the verge of critical mass. Johnson did nothing. Let's also bring up his decision to bring in Jackson who was horrible his last time out and on 2 days rest. Guess it was lucky that the Nats pitchers fell apart.

I didn't say they didn't have "an" Ace I said they did have Ace pitcher and lost.

Gio is good no doubt but Stephen Strasburg is one of the games elite pitchers. He has a career 1.09 WHIP and a .233 BAA and he's only getting better. The Nats went 19-9 in his starts and 12-19 when Edwin Jackson pitched, so the Nats were -7 when Jackson starts despite being 32 games over .500 and that's not counting the playoff loss.

If they could have started Strasburg in game 2 it allows them to go with Jordan Zimmermann at home in game 3 where he hadn't lost since the middle of May at Nationals Park! Also if Strasburg was on the roster they could have brought him back from game 2 to pitch in relief in game 5.

For a Cardinals fan to act like Strasburg over Ed Jackson isn't a issue is comical and proves my point about how dumb and blind you guys are with absolutely no Self-awareness of the massive amount of breaks your team gets.

Yet they beat the Reds head-to-head 8/15 and the last two series.

Only three Reds could crack the Cards' starting line-up - and one of them (Votto) by season's end (with the knee injury) had less power than their 1b (A. Craig).

Call the Cardinals lucky - the Reds would have lost to them in the playoffs - just as a BETTER team (Washington) did.

...and the Cardinals were "lucky" Davey Johnson didn't walk Kozma in the 9th (with 1st base open) and force Matheny's hand.

Beltran wanted a chance to win a world series title, not play for a one and done team.

Ludwick wishes he was still a Cardinal deep down inside, so does Rolen.

Thanks to the last series being meaningless and the Reds pulling all the SP early resting them. Arroyo 73, Latos 78 and Bailey 70 pitches.

Cozart is better than Kozma, Ludwick had a better year then Beltran for 10M less and I'm sure the Cards would take Bruce and his 34 HR and 99 over Holliday's 27 and 102 for 12 less million. And BP and Joey blow away what the Cards have there.

Only Cards fans still think the best teams win in the playoffs, how cute. Look above a couple posts and see how the weakest teams are about to win more playoffs games than the teams in the best record in baseaball in the playoffs in 2000's.

The playoffs offer a clean slate. Your regular season stats are meaningless, the best teams advance, losers go home. It's as simple as that.

The best teams rarely advance anymore, the hottest teams at the end of the season advance. That why teams with the least wins in RS are going to win more playoff games since the 1990's if the Cards or Tigers win 4 more games combined than the teams with the best overall records.

In the playoffs SP depth becomes meaningless as its all about your top guys. Cards get a top guy back they win with him, Nats and Reds lose a top guy for the playoffs and they are going home.

Much like the NCAA tournament the more you let in the more likely the good teams are going to lose. Houston could win a 5 game series if they go in.
