Really interesting comments from Buckley in the article, especially on Lutz being in AAA before next year is done.

I was interested in him calling Cingrani's change-up "plus." We've been talking about him as a one pitch guy with a good fatsball and little else. If he's a reliever, I'd say he's major league ready.

I saw Hamilton steal a record-setting base when he was in Dayton and he is really something to watch on the basepaths. It's definitely disappointing they didn't promote him.

I was glad to see the report on Carlos Contreras. He and Wirfin Obispo could be under-the-radar guys to help in the bullpen before long.
Pleasantly surprised to see the positive evaluation of Travis Mattair, too.

My choice of relievers, though, is still Drew Hayes. He struggled a bit after skipping High-A, but settled in and seems to have what it takes. I find it interesting that, two years ago at Dayton, Sharky Rogers pitched well but looked to be behind Hayes, Blaine Howell and perhaps Daniel Wolford in the bullpen pecking order. And from there, he became one of the top starters in the system this year. |
