He was cited in an article sometime this summer as being one of the coaches in the league ready to make that step up

Apparently Mike Redmond is a front runner. Really hope Price doesn't get poached from us.

I think the Marlins next move should be to trade Giancarlo Stanton to the Reds.

If Price gets away the Reds will be in terrible shape. Power is not a major league coach, IMO and Jenkins is VERY lucky to have the job he has right now.

Funny how things change, Price was put on the chopping block by some because of 2011, now he's all that again after having one of the best staffs in the league. He must have figured out a lot last offseason.

Nothing more then my opinion, but I believe Price is Walt's choice to replace Dusty, and he wanted to make that change this off season and was overruled. Why else bring in an assistant pitching coach last year?

If that is the case, why have a GM? Why would Walt put up with this if Cast will not allow him to have "his guy" as the manager.

I have inside sources (I know, I know . . . another random guy on the internet with "inside sources") who all say the same thing: Dusty Baker is here because of Bob Castellini. Don't forget that Jocketty was Castellini's choice, too.

Price has withdrawn his name from the Marlins job according to Traderumors.... Why?

They probably didn't want him. That's what happens a lot with these kind of jobs. It lets the candidate save face.

Maybe in his conversation with Walt to renew his deal, he was given a nice bump in pay and assurance that he is now the Reds' manager-in-waiting?

That'd be the best-case scenario, IMO.
