Re: Joe Morgan Statue

Whoa, that BRM celebrating statue would be quite the undertaking for a sculptor. I like the idea!

Re: Joe Morgan Statue

I think this is the Morgan statue I would prefer; it's the Joe Morgan of my youth. It's funny, he was so good at hitting, running and fielding that it's very difficult to capture it all in one statue.

It is. The HOF is really well done; definitely worth a visit.

Then there is the 75 series.
Did they not groom baseball fields at all in the 70s? The World Series and I've never seen such a chewed up batter's box, someone explain this to me.

Everything was shaggier in the '70s.

There are so many places I could go with that statement if this weren't a family friendly site.

Reds honoring Morgan with statue in front of park

The Reds Hall of Fame will also have a season long exhibit dedicated to Joe Morgan.

Quote:
The Cincinnati Reds have already retired Morgan's No. 8 and are now bestowing the former second baseman with another honor -- a statue located in front of Great American Ball Park on Crosley Terrace.

Morgan's statue -- which will join those of Johnny Bench, Ted Kluszewski, Ernie Lombardi, Joe Nuxhall and Frank Robinson -- will be dedicated on Saturday, Sept. 7, prior to the 1:05 p.m. ET game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He'll immediately dismiss it as being sabremeterical.
