Why Ryan Lamarre will succeed...
He trains with Mike Barwis... The same guy who transformed Lamarr Woodley and Brandon Graham.
Anybody going through his programs comes out a Beast...

Re: Why Ryan Lamarre will succeed...
Hope you're right. But I've seen nothing from him yet that impresses me that he's a top talent. I've been more impressed with Bryan Smith. (could just make me a bad judge of talent)

Re: Why Ryan Lamarre will succeed...
He needs a better swing. He can get bigger/faster/stronger and it won't do much a the plate unless he starts using his body to swing instead of his arms.

Re: Why Ryan Lamarre will succeed...
I hope that he has that power potential, much like Didi was said to have... scouting reports from the draft claimed that he had potential in that area, if i remember correctly. He's one of the guys that I feel could break out in any given year if he makes the right adjustments, and will burn out in AAA if he doesn't.

Re: Why Ryan Lamarre will succeed...
Didn't LaMarre come out of college with a severe wrist injury that zapped his power? I thought he put up decent power numbers until he injured his wrist. Perhaps he picked up some bad habits that a good coach could correct?

LaMarre will have a breakout 2013, be promoted to AAA, get regular AB's and put up a slash line of:
.285 12 HR 65 RBI 35 SB .382 OBP Gold glove defense 2014, welcome to the Reds |

Re: Why Ryan Lamarre will succeed...
I could see LaMarre playing the 5th outfield role for the Reds for a good part of the season, considering they don't have a true CF with MLB experience on the team right now.

Re: Why Ryan Lamarre will succeed...
I would be stoked if Lamarre panned out with a Geronimo-type career.
The Chief was perceived by many Reds fans as an all-glove, no stick guy, but in reality he wasn't half-bad at the plate. He just paled in comparison to luminaries like Bench, Morgan, Rose, Perez, Foster, etc. Despite being the runt of the Big Red litter, Geronimo still managed a 93 OPS+ over a 15 year career. Average offense plus elite defense at an up-the-middle position equals a darn solid career. |
