Possible new names for Hornets. Seriously.

Particularly with the name "Mosquitos". There might not be anything wrong with it generically, but if you go from "Hornets" to "Mosquitos" (or, if you want to spell it correctly, "Mosquitoes") that can be absolutely nothing but a demotion. Seriously.

The rest can go. Except for Swamp Dogs. I wouldn't mind that, but not for the reasons they would hope for, I'm sure. |

The Jazz should do the right thing and give them back the Jazz name.

It's like they've decided on Pelicans but came up with a plan to throw in 4 other names that are so hideously awful that the Pelicans looks brilliant by comparison.

I call dibs on New Orleans Swamp Dogs for my next fantasy team.

I'd heard that Pelicans was a done-deal from friends in NOLA.
Tulane's actual mascot is a pelican as well.

That's what I think too. They and Utah should trade nicknames since Utah is known as the Beehive State.

I personally like the New Orleans Occupying Union Forces with Benjamin Butler as the mascot, but they probably wouldn't go for that.

I'm not much of an NBA fan, but the Hornets have become my favorite team this year after former UD Flyer guard Brian Roberts was signed to the team. He's making significant contributions and has been one of the surprise players of the league so far this season.

They have some good young players. I can see them taking babysteps and making strides such as the Warriors have this year.

It's official, apparently.
Report: New Orleans to officially announce name change to Pelicans. Quote:
