2013 MLB Draft order with Bonus pool numbers
http://www.baseballamerica.com/today...2/2614151.html
2013 MLB Draft order with Bonus pool numbers The draft order for the first round is below, subject to change if any teams outside of the top 10 picks sign a free agent who merits compensation. If a free agent's former club offers him a one-year deal with a salary that matches the average of the top 125 salaries from 2012 (roughly $13.5 million), the new team forfeits its first-round pick (unless it's in the top 10, in which case the second-rounder is forfeited). The old club gets a choice at the end of the first round (but not the new team's selection). Each team's approximate bonus pool to sign its picks in the first 10 rounds is in parentheses. Those numbers are based on the 2012 pick values, which will be adjusted upward to reflect the increase in MLB's revenues this year. Bonus pool money will shift from one team to another every time a competitive-balance lottery pick is traded (those deals only can occur during the regular season) or a compensation free agent changes clubs. 1. Astros ($10,880,000) 2. Cubs ($9,822,500) 3. Rockies ($9,490,700) 4. Twins ($7,700,700) 5. Indians ($7,693,000) 6. Marlins ($8,870,700) 7. Red Sox ($6,341,900) 8. Royals ($7,741,200) 9. *Pirates ($8,226,500) 10. Blue Jays ($5,941,300) 11. Mets ($6,487,300) 12. Mariners ($5,694,600) 13. Padres ($6,330,400) 14. Pirates (see above) 15. Diamondbacks ($6,766,200) 16. Phillies ($5,601,800) 17. Brewers ($5,660,200) 18. White Sox ($4,864,100) 19. Dodgers ($4,780,900) 20. Cardinals ($4,698,300) 21. Tigers ($6,035,500) 22. Angels ($4,584,300) 23. Rays ($4,525,900) 24. Orioles ($5,940,000) 25. Rangers ($4,419,900) 26. Athletics ($5,541,900) 27. Giants ($4,317,500) 28. Braves ($4,266,800) 29. Yankees ($4,216,300) 30. Reds ($5,596,600) 31. Nationals ($4,116,500) *Compensation for failure to sign 2012 first-rounder Mark Appel. |

Braves To Sign B.J. Upton By Ben Nicholson-Smith [November 28 at 4:49pm CST] 4:49pm: It's a five-year, $75.25MM contract, Rosenthal reports (on Twitter). Upton declined a qualifying offer from the Rays, which means the Rays are now eligible to obtain a top pick in the 2013 draft. The Braves will surrender their first round draft pick to sign Upton, though that selection won't go directly to Tampa Bay. |

I was hoping the bonus numbers would be for powerball. Too late to buy a ticket anyway.

SS Oscar Mercado SS JP Crawford 3B Kris Bryant OF Austin Wilson OF Clint Frazier OF Justin Williams OF/LHP Trey Ball 1B/OF Dominic Smith Will be interesting to see how the board develops over the next six months.

Angels To Sign Josh Hamilton By Ben Nicholson-Smith [December 13 at 1:39pm CST] 1:39pm: It's a five-year, $125MM contract, ESPNDallas.com reports. Hamilton received and turned down a qualifying offer from the Rangers, which means he'll be linked to draft pick compensation. The Rangers will obtain a compensatory selection for losing Hamilton, and the Angels will have to surrender their top pick (#22 overall) in 2013. Re: 2013 MLB Draft order with Bonus pool numbers
So how does it work now, if you make a qualifying offer the player turns down and signs elsewhere (ie Rangers and Angels here), the Rangers get 1 sandwich pick and the Angels simply forfeit their first round pick (as opposed to giving that to the Rangers)?

Re: 2013 MLB Draft order with Bonus pool numbers
The Braves and Angels forfeited their first round picks. The Rays get a comp first round pick and the Rangers will get a comp first round pick. The Angels #22 pick and the Braves #28 pick are gone. This means the Reds move up from pick #30 to pick #28.

Reds are also getting one of those small-market supplemental picks, I think. Probably be around #40.

Re: 2013 MLB Draft order with Bonus pool numbers
Sorry to jump to a 2014 question, but as long as the Reds offer Choo around 12 million for 1 yr for 2015, will they also get a "comp pick" if he signs elsewhere?

Re: 2013 MLB Draft order with Bonus pool numbers
Yep. The qualifying offer is based on an average of the top 125 salaries, so, that number will go up in 2013. (This past off season it was 13.3)

Isn't there some kind of lottery where small market teams get an extra pick?
