http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/po...-in-the-majors

Pay this guy whatever it takes to keep him here until he wants to retire.

Re: Article about Bryan Price

Been saying it since Jocketty brought him aboard. No secret in the big leagues that Price is one of if not THE BEST in the biz.

Mike Maddux, Darren Balsley and Larry Rothschild belong in that grouping too. Guys that KNOW what they are doing, not just riding the coat tails of a good staff.

Re: Article about Bryan Price

Price was a genius in 2010, way overrated in 2011, and an evil genius in 2012.

Such is the life of a pitching coach. IMHO, Jocketty deserves the pitching coach of the year award for 2012.

This is what I liked most in that article:

It's one reason to believe Aroldis Chapman will succeed as a starter in 2013.

As the article makes clear, his track record goes back well beyond 2010.

I assume so. He was interviewed for the marlins position and wisely backed out of the running.

Really?

Believe it or not I'm very familiar with Price (reexamine his history for clues as to why if that statement mystifies you).

I'm also familiar with the accolades he got here in 2010, the grousing about the pitching in 2011, and the accolades he again received last year.

And you know what? The point about Walt and his impact on the roster still stands given the significant moves he made as well as the way he has consistently fashioned the defense.

I completely agree. Coaching plays an important role, but talent is even more important.

At least these days we don't have to say "Maybe Price can fix him."

Is evil genius greater than genius?
