Uniform numbers for Choo, Hannahan, Donald

http://marksheldon.mlblogs.com/2013/...iform-numbers/

From Sheldon, Choo will wear 17 (Negron did have it), Donald 16, and Hannahan 9. All these are the numbers they had while most recently with CLE.

Is it just me or is anyone else surprised the Reds haven't promoted the Choo signing a little more...at least done some sort of press blitz to help us get to know him for the year he will be here?

It wasn't a signing.

No, I wondered the same thing. I feel like half the fan base is gonna be wondering why Stubbs isn't playing centerfield on opening day.

Does Choo live in South Korea during the off season? Only reason I can think of for no big press conferences or anything.

"Negron did have it."

Haha. Negron is lucky that he has a uniform at Louisville.

That's my guess. I'm sure they'll hold a big presser at the start of spring training to "introduce" him. But he probably goes back to South Korea from November-January.

I don't think you would be too far off with that estimation. I kinda hope for rain during the opening series because I really want to hear the bananna phone. I'm almost certain someone will call in and say "Where's Stubbs?"

From John Fay:

Relief pitcher Sean Marshall switched from No. 51 to No. 45 – his old number with the Cubs.

Closer Jonathan Broxton switched from No. 50 to No. 51.

Veteran infielder Cesar Izturis will wear No. 3.

And Billy Hamilton will wear #6 in Spring Training.

ChOO should've gone with #00.

Should Izturis getting #3 indicate that he has a solid chance of making this team? Not many NRI guys get that low of a # without having a solid chance to make the team.

Izturis has worn #3 at a number of other stops (Dodgers, Cubs, Pirates, Cardinals, Orioles, and Brewers). Probably a professional courtesy.

Hamilton with a low number as well. Probably just the Reds thinktank wanting to stir us up with rumors here at RedsZone.
