Webb to throw

Not sure he's ever gonna be a quality arm again, but if there's any chance at all I wouldn't mind having him stashed in Lousiville for an emergency. Was Price supposed to work him out at some point (or had he be working with him to prepare)?

Price was his pitching coach for a while in Arizona. He was said to be considering the Reds before signing with Texas a couple years ago, but he ended up having another surgery and hasn't pitched since. He's a Wildcat, so I'm happy to spend a minor league contract on him.

Re: Webb to throw

You know Spring Training is close when you hear about Webb throwing for erstwhile interested GMs. He's become the Puxatawney Phil of Spring Training free agency.

Re: Webb to throw

Perhaps they can pull a Dempster/ Madsen with him. Nurse him back to full health, then go let him actually pitch for someone else.

Re: Webb to throw

I couldn't believe it when Texas shelled out a bunch of money for him coming off surgery.

I'd definitely take a minor league flyer on him if that's the only interest he's given.

Re: Webb to throw

Time to scratch him off the list (if he hadn't been already), he's officially retired as of today:

Guy was on top of the world for five years and then just simply fell off the map. Another reminder why long-term pitching contracts are so risky.
