Re: Manti Te'o didn't really have a dead girlfriend
This is just a glorious story that gets better every day. Everyone and their sister are lying. There are lies built on half truths and lies based on previous lies. New, and different lies from the previous day.
Its got reporters running for the hills. Its got universities in full panic. Its got private investaigators. Its got NFL players saying they actually did meet the fake girl and guys pretending to be women and then the next day having cousins revealed as part of the conthing. I am in love with this non sense.

Re: Manti Te'o didn't really have a dead girlfriend
You know, I didn't care at all about this guy's dead girlfriend until this story broke after the season. Now I'm with you in being very interested in every detail. I guess I love catching people in a lie more than the touchy, feely stuff

Re: Manti Te'o didn't really have a dead girlfriend
Well, the dead girl is fake, that automatically gives it a massive advantage in entertainment value over stories where real people die. And you can still find someone to feel bad for if you're really determined, but there's no guilt for not bothering with that. Then there's the mystery/suspense element, a little bit more keeps coming out each day and we don't know and get to eagerly await what's coming next. Add in the big giant bonus of the sports media ending up looking foolish, and it's almost an ideal sports soap opera story.

Re: Manti Te'o didn't really have a dead girlfriend
According to Florio, NFL teams are not convinced that Teo is not gay and that they're trying to discern that before deciding on whether to draft him. Basically a lot of teams would be hesitant to bring in an opening gay guy and the ensuing baggage that'd entail.

Re: Manti Te'o didn't really have a dead girlfriend
Silly me, I thought the most important thing about a potential draft pick would be whether he can inflict pain and suffering on opponents and understand a complicated playbook.

Re: Manti Te'o didn't really have a dead girlfriend
That probably is the most important thing but with all the intangibles they look into at the combine, it doesn't surprise me that they delved into this one

Re: Manti Te'o didn't really have a dead girlfriend
For three hours on Sunday, Monday, now Thursday I agree. But the reality is players are around their teammates 6-7 days a week. It will take a strong individual to be an openly gay as well as a handful of strong teammates.
