What Are Your Plans For Opening Day 2013?

Are you going to be watching at home, going to the game, taking radio to work or going to a bar to watch it etc?

I am taking April 1st and 2nd off.

For the second year in a row, I am going to have a get together at my house. I will have a TV setup on the patio with cornhole boards, BBQ, hot dog rotisserie, rice cooker full (in honor of Choo) and a big cooler of beers. It is BYOB but some people tend to forget. I do have some Reds shot glasses for when a good play happens.

The 4:00pm game is cool because a few of my friends can visit after work. Last year, it went on until about 10:30pm with the firepit going. I am glad I had the next day off.

It is for sure a holiday for me,

Well, obviously the rest of us will be going to your house.

Re: What Are Your Plans For Opening Day 2013?

Is ESPN carrying OD this year?

I never work opening day. not once in the last 24 years.

If the game is nationally televised (ESPN) i'll be sitting at home watching.

I'll be at the game with a friend. As usual, it'll be a day of bar-hopping downtown before the game with the first drink - as always - at Arnold's.

I believe someone posted in a thread a while ago that ESPN is not covering the Reds on opening day this year.

EDIT: Here you go, it was a SunDeck Thread

DVR'ing the game and hoping I can be caught up by the end. I am taking on a film project and part of that includes shooting time lapse footage of GABP filling up on Opening Day.

Probably leaving work early and watching the game in the man cave. alone. I have about as much chance of getting OD tickets as Franklin D. Roosevelt does. None.

Re: What Are Your Plans For Opening Day 2013?

Funny, but I don't get that cranked up over Opening Day.

Don't get me wrong, I like it and it's exciting. But for me, it's more the anticipation of what's to come. Every Reds season is like a book waiting to get written. The really cool thing about sports is that nobody knows what will happen. There are thousands, if not millions, of little independent events that all act in a grand concert that result in the season. Each Reds game in the context of all of the other NL (and even AL games) that affect what it all means is sometimes grand and exciting, sometimes muddled and mundane, sometimes very confusing, but always very interesting to this Reds fan. With every Reds season (and this is my 49th) , I think my anticipation and appreciation grows. It's not just Opening Day, it's OD+1, OD+2.... on to OD+162 and hopefully beyond. It's my daily companion for 6 months that's like Christmas every game.

Re: What Are Your Plans For Opening Day 2013?

I plan on skipping my last class at 1 PM to go watch the game. We are currently trying to get tickets, so hopefully that comes through. It would be my fourth opening day.
