I loved Silent Shout. When my students ask for the strangest music I have, that is one of my go to plays.

Imelda May. I saw her on PBS with Jeff Beck. She is an Irish rockabilly/jazz/soul singer with a great voice & stage presence. Plus she writes her own songs.

Re: What am I listening to? (Part II)

Bump... finally listened to two CDs bought at Shake it Records (on Record Day) yesterday:

Johnnie Taylor - The Very Best of
23 tracks of classic Stax soul - Only knew (for sure) "Who's Making Love, but heard "Testify (I Wonna) on WDJO last month and decided to buy.

Donald Fagen - The Nightfly
I thought I bought a copy years ago but might have misplaced it. Anyway, still holds up pretty well. Good lazy Sunday album. Of course, the gem IMHO is still "New Frontier" with the video going off in my head.

Tossed in an old George Jones greatest hits CD this morning, as a tribute to his passing. That man had some pipes.

Re: What am I listening to? (Part II)

I downloaded the new Bowie and Phoenix albums today but haven't had a chance to listen to them yet.

Revering for Blue will be happy to know I've been listening
to the Foo Fighters quite a bit recently.

I'm excited for the new Vampire Weekend album releasing tomorrow. You can get a sneak preview of three of the songs on their website.

Nah, due to the fact that I do not play six instruments and, apparently new to music and life, I'm unqualified to speak about music.

All kidding aside, all that matters is if one enjoys what he/she is listening to. Lots of good under-the-radar material throughout this thread.

As for yours truly, it's been mostly AAA material lately. On that end, I've heard nothing except good things about the Bowie and Phoenix albums.

Anytime you tell me, here's new music from David Bowie, I'm excited. I enjoyed the new album and was actually initially impressed, but now I don't know about its staying power.

But did I mention its new music from David Bowie!
