Re: NHL 2013

The Blues are maddening to watch. They lost a total of 6 regulation games at home all last year. This year, they've already lost 5 in regulation. I do not understand how this team can look so dominant on the road but look completely soft with no heart at home. So frustrating.

Columbus always seems to be that team that creates issues for the Hawks and I wasn't sure the streak would last the night, but thankfully they kicked into gear and got a W in OT.

2 off tying the second longest points streak in NHL history now.

Thought for sure Chicago's streak was ending today. Quite the game.

Typical Detroit Chicago game. Excellent goal tending on both sides of the ice.

It's pretty much official. The Hawks have made a deal with the devil.

Whatever it takes to win

They are so much fun to watch. They aren't physical in the sense that they smack a lot of people around, but they contest everything, passes, dump ins, shots, doesn't matter as they let the other team have nothing. There's a lot of discipline on the defensive side this season and its nice.

Re: NHL 2013

I don't know if any of you saw this but the injury to Marc Staal is horrible. It begs the question: Does the NHL need to institute a visor policy?

Re: NHL 2013

Its something simple that can help reduce these kinds of inuries, so I think the answer has to be yes.

Probably...and I'd also be in favor of a policy against blowing 2 goal third period leads, but that's another topic.

Is there any other kind so far this season? Most games have been one goal for much of the time.

Re: NHL 2013

Well it's official, the new realignment plan is going through:

http://aol.sportingnews.com/nhl/stor...ern-conference

I hate that Detroit is leaving the West but I see why. With 14 teams being in the West, I wouldn't be shocked if they add two teams in the West through expansion. I wouldn't mind seeing teams in KC and Seattle. Both would fit nice into the realignment plan and both would have instant rivals.

While it would make sense given the new setup, I firmly believe the NHL would be making a big mistake by expanding/relocating in the US as opposed to Canada. Quebec City and Hamilton could both support an NHL team and fill up an arena, and even a second team in Toronto could do good business. Of course, Bettman and NHL probably want a part of the lucrative US TV deals. I think Seattle could work since it is a totally untapped market and has some hockey history, but I see Kansas City struggling to reach 15,000 in attendance with any consistency. At best, they do Nashville Predator type business.
