Houston Rockets missed out on acquiring Michael Jordan.....twice

Two related articles spell it out for the NBA history revisionists out there.

Interesting tidbits of info in both articles, as well as the debunking of two popular NBA myths:

1)Drafting MJ instead of Sam Bowie was a slam-dunk.

2)Had Chicago won the coin flip for the first pick in the '79 draft, Magic Johnson would have refused to play for the Bulls.

The number one blunder in Portland Trail Blazer history?

Bowie ahead of Jordan?

Oden ahead of Durant?

Not quite.

Quote:
The number one blunder in Portland Trail Blazer history was dealing Moses Malone prior to the 1976-77 season.

Once upon a time, the fall of 1976 to be exact, a twenty-two year old, nearly indestructible, rebounding machine named Moses Malone wore the uniform of the Portland Trail Blazers.

How Malone came not to wear Blazer red and black and not help Bill Walton, Maurice Lucas and company win three or four consecutive NBA championships warrants a recounting. Why? If, in a few days Portland's front office screws up the pick, we can all find consolation that the front office screwed up worse before, even worse than not selecting Jordan.

Professional sports is full of what ifs.

What if the Sox had kept Ruth?
What if the Bengals had won either of those Super Bowls in the 80s?
What if Palmer hadn't gone down in that playoff game?
What if the Reds had lost the '75 Series?

Of course there are plenty others. Bartman?

That's what makes sports so fascinating, all the second guessing.
