Jodi Arias Trial

Are any of you following this? I must sheepishly admit that I am. It involves two things that I despise: liars and murder.

That being said, I also have an open mind and I'm willing to consider all scenarios.

It goes without saying that this incident involved a relationship between two people that was based on nothing more than hot and heavy sex and that Jodi lied about it many, many times before getting to this point. But that aside, I want to look at the facts of the killing itself. Is Jodi's latest story even plausable? I say no. I don't see any possible way it could have happened the way she's describing. For instance, if she got the gun in the closet, how did the killing take place in the bathroom? Seems to me that the only way it could have happened there is if she pointed it at him and walked (cornered) him there; in which case, she was the aggressor. If she was threatened then why didn't she grab the gun and head out the door t drive away?

With all the Press coverage and all the questions being asked in this I still have a few questions I'd like to hear her answer:

1) Why did you even take a picture of the crime scene? Why did you throw the camera in the washing machine rather than throw it away like you did with the gun?

2) Why did you tell the detective that Travis didn't own a gun?

3) How did you get from the closet back to the bathroom?

Having said all that, I'd like to see her sentenced to something close to life in prison but not the death penalty. I think the death penalty should be reserved for the most dangerous among us like serial killers and should be exceedingly rare.

I think her best shot at beating this would have been a temporary insanity defense where she admits that it was a crime of passion.

If anyone thinks her story could be an accurate depiction of what really happened, I'd like to hear your point of view

I agree with this.

Any lawyers out there to answer this:

How does the death penalty work? It's my understanding that the jury first will give a verdict of 1st degree murder and then there'll be a sentencing portion of the trial where the jury can suggest a death penalty or different sentence. The Press is making it sound like they might not come back with a 1st degree murder charge because they don't want to see her put to death. Seems to me that they'll have a say in that and they can very well rule 1st degree murder and no death penalty.

The death penalty is implemented on a state-by-state basis. How they do it in Ohio may well be different from Arizona.

Re: Jodi Arias Trial

Jodi Arias is guilty as sin.

One observation from watching is how the victim's friends keep saying Jodi was a gold digger.

I don't know if it was about money. I think she was a little scorned watching the man she loved break his so called devout religious views to use her for pretty raunchy sex...and then go try to find someone else to marry. In no way shape or form did he deserve to be murdered but I don't think this was about money or lifestyle as his friends are painting it.

I don't think it was about money. Travis had a little but not much to brag about and you sure don't stab someone 29 times over $$

I think she felt used . And I think she was.

Just an interesting case.

Re: Jodi Arias Trial

I'm trying to think about what kind of person it takes to steal a gun, rent a car, and then go have sex with someone knowing you were going to kill that person afterwards.

Part of me wonders if she was going to give him one last chance to stay with her or else and planned it that way.

I don't know which one was used more. She drove to his house. Sounds like she was the one that couldn't let go. Quite frankly it was a relationship built upon nothing more than sex and those don't end well

I know very few women who base relationships solely on sex.

She wanted to marry him, he just wanted to have fun.

You don't get so upset that you kill someone over a sexual relationship ending.

That's clearly not her testimony. She testified that he asked her to marry him and she didn't take him up on it. Now perhaps this is another case of where she wasn't telling the truth. Why would she want to marry someone who abuses her and is addicted to child porn (as was also her testimony)?

Did you see her text messages to him where she asked him to come over for a BJ and that she wanted a generous facial in return? I could go on but I think I'm already stretching the bounds of this site with the X rated nature of this trial. We can't really believe her testimony due to credibility issues so I'm going by what we know: text messages and the phone conversation that was taped. From those it sure didn't seem like there was anything more than sex in their relationship

Re: Jodi Arias Trial

You may be right. Just watching a lot of it made me feel he wasn't interested in marriage. Folks close to him said that.

Definitely lots going on and she obviously is the whack job here.

Re: Jodi Arias Trial

I look at the main testimony, which is someone having their throat slashed from ear to ear and being stabbed 40 times...

That seems pretty personal to me, not from someone who was in it for sex.

Stabbed 29 times but who's counting?

I think it's both. I think it was personal and I don't think they shared any connection other than sex.

But don't try to think this out logically. As you say, she's the whack job here and whack jobs don't think logically

Re: Jodi Arias Trial

Finally the jury has spoken and I'm thrilled with their ruling. I'm still kinda torn on whether I want to see her put to death. I want to see her on death row for a long, long time first. I think her defense team should have gone for a crime of passion rather than self defense but I imagine their mentally ill client had something to do with that

Just about the entire country felt that she was guilty. I think she's on a par with the Boston bombing bros in terms of public hatred. Next month the Zimmerman trial will begin and that one will make this trial seem tame. Kudos to the Arizona jury for taking their time and doing the right thing
