Minor League Game Thread 4/19/24 FRIDAY

LOUISVILLE GM 1 - The Bats will play 2 7-inning contests today in order to make up for yesterday's washout. And they are not off to the best of starts. They are behind 5-2 in the top of the 4h.

Tyler Gilbert got the start, and to be honest, I am not sure as to why. He came into the game lugging an ERA of 12.15 with them. And, that has gone up considerably with his effort today. 5 runs in 1.1 innings.
That ERA has settled in at 15.75 now.
Stevie Branche tossed a scoreless inning, and now Evan Kravetz has taken over.

Mike Ford parked 1 for his 6th homer on the season. His OPS is now .985.
Rece Hinds singled and came around on a Hernan Perez base knock.

LOUISVILLE GM 1 - Louisville falls behind 6-2 before roaring back with 5 runs in the 5th to grab a 7-6 lead. 7 singles and a HBP do the trick.

Alan Busenitz will try to hold to that lead for the Bats.

DAYTONA - Daytona's game is moving right along, with the Tortugas out in front 2-0 with 4 in the books.

Adam Serinowski has decided that he is not giving up an earned run this season. This is 3rd start, and he is blanking Bradenton. 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 K.

And, that will be all for Serinowski with Nestor Lorant coming on to start the 5th. Not a good start as the 1st batter he faces, goes deep to cut the lead in half at 2-1.

The 'Tugas have 3 singles so far: Cabrera, Pitelli and Duno. Pitelli's batting average is .429.

Adam Serwinowski is having himself a start. Anxious to watch his season unfold.

LOUISVILLE GM 1 RECAP - Bats win 9-6.

Mike Ford - SGL, HR (6), BB.
    PJ Higgins - SGL, DBL.
    Connor Capel - SGL, BB.

Hernan Perez - 2 SGL, TPL.
    Mark Trautwein - BB, HBP.

DAYTONA RECAP - Excellent pitching was the key to the Tortugas 4-1 triumph.

Adam Serinowski kept his ERA spotless in 12 innings on the year by shutting down Bradenton for 4 innings tonight.
Nestor Lorant allowed a solo blast to the first hitter that he faced before striking out 10 over 5 innings. His ERA is a microscopic 0.75.

    Carlos Sanchez - 2 BB.
    Ricardo Cabrera - SGL, HBP.
Alfredo Duno - SGL, DBL, TPL.
    Ariel Almonte - DBL, BB.

    Cabrera (OPS - 1.025). 4th in FSL.
    Pitelli (OPS - 1.140). 3rd in FSL.

Serwinowski and Lorant have both been exceptional over three games so far.

The entire Daytona staff has an ERA under 2.90.

    That's... getting it done.

(We won't talk about the near Mendoza line offensively.)

Alfredo Duno, with three hits, has puilled his OPS up to .766 and his BA up to .257.

That, to me, is really good news. He's a kid-- the youngest guy in low A, IIRC-- and after a slow start, is holding his own.

    Might be legitimate.

Ibarra with 2 more singles tonight.... what it that? 6 for his last 9... all singles?

Lowder wasn't as sharp tonight with a final line of 4.1 innings, 4 hits, 3ER, 3BB and 1K. 83 pitches.

Collier is tearing it up but below the surface he's got 12K's and only 1BB. He's showing he belongs for sure but early splits there are interesting given his billing.

Stewart with another hit tonight and is also showing he belongs.
