Almonte was a player I was high on going into last year, and he basically didn't do much. He's striking out a ton, but is really getting to his power now. He'll be 20 for the entire year so low A is still an age appropriate level for him in 2024.

LOUISVILLE RECAP - Louisville doubles up the St. Paul Saints 8-4.

Connor Phillips still had issues, allowing 4 runs over 5 innings with 2 baseballs leaving the yard, but the bullpen was very nearly spotless with one scoreless frame each from Tyler Gilbert, Alex Young, Brooks Kriske and Tony Santillan. That quartet allowed just 1 hit over those 4 innings.

TJ Friedl doubled and walked in 4 plate appearances. He also lined hard to center and flew out to deep center.
Rece Hinds homered (4) for the 2nd consecutive game and walked.
Edwin Rios singled, doubled and went deep (3). In limited action, he has upped his OPS to 1.239.
Erik Gonzalez singled and hit his 1st home run here in '24.

Blake Dunn pinch hit for Friedl late in the game, walked and stole a base (6).

Re: Minor League Game Thread 5/2/24 THURSDAY

Chase Petty has now gone 5 innings in each of his last two outings w/ only 63 pitches in his Start yesterday. He got back to doing what he did throughout his first two seasons at all four levels he pitched at....low WHIPS (1.200 and below) and improving K/BB rates (from 3-1 to 4-1 to 5-1, though yesterday he had only 3 K's).

This former 1st Round pick (2021 by MIN) is steadily developing into a quality Starting pitcher. Imagine he'll remain in Chattanooga for the rest of the season as pitches and Innings per Start are what's needed from him right now. He also only threw 68 innings last year, with all of his starts being limited to 4IP max.

Hopefully, by the end of the year, he can get to 100 IP, averaging 5IP along the way.
