    A few transactions today:
Louisville put Alan Busenitz on the 7-day injured list, and activated Spencer Stockton.
    Chattanooga released Alex McGarry.
    Dayton rested on its laurels.
    Daytona rested as well.

LOUISVILLE - My apologies as I must have jinxed Kennedy. He pukes up a 3-run blast in the 3rd, and the Bats trail 3-0.

Blake Dunn has the lone hit for Louisville, a double in the 3rd.

DAYTONA - The Flying Tigers are soaring in the top of the 4th. They have plated one run, and have 2 runners on with no outs.

Ricardo Cabrera has doubled. Esmith Pineda and Marwin Valdez singled back-to-back in the 2nd. Since there batting averages are .122 and .114 respectively, that means there was a 1.4% chance of that happening. (Methinks.)

Re: Minor League Game Thread 5/9/24 THURSDAY

DAYTONA - Juan Martinez hung tough for 5 innings and only allowed 1 run.
Anyer Laureano has tacked on 2 more scoreless frames, and his ERA lowered to 0.55.

The sticks are spinning their wheels. Carter Graham has added a single, but the Tortugas have yet to dent the scoreboard

The score is 1-0 in the home half of the 7th.

Livan Soto, Rece Hinds and JP Higgins all have cracked a double as well.

    DAYTONA RECAP - Great pitching + bad hitting = 1 - 0 loss.

Juan Martinez (5), Anyer Laureano (2) and Ben Brutti (2) did their job. 1 run given up in 9 innings should equal a win, but it didn't.

Yerlin Confidan doubled (and was thrown out at 3rd) and walked.
    Graham Carter singled twice.
    Not much else.

Thought at on point McGarry might be a decent bench bat for a season or two.

LOUISVILLE RECAP - Bad pitching + good pitching equals a 9-6 loss.

Brett Kennedy and Justin Bruihl were not good. Let's leave it at that.
Yosver Zulueta gave up a run in 2 innings, and he struck out 2
Spencer Stockton, just activated, pitched a shutout 9th, while striking out a pair.

Blake Dunn singled and doubled. He stole his 7th base.
    Rece Hinds singled and doubled.
    PJ Higgins doubled and walked.
Nick Martini homered (1) and walked.
Peyton Burdick singled and homered (8)

AREDS - They are just starting out West AReds scored 2 in the top of the 1st but gave 1 right back in the bottom half of the inning. That's where it stands, 2-1 in the 2nd.

The AReds starter is Darcy Longstaff. Longstaff is from Down Under.

The 2 runs came on singles by Sammy Stafura, Bernard Moon and Sheng-En Lin.

Re: Minor League Game Thread 5/9/24 THURSDAY

AREDS RECAP - The team jumped ahead 2-0, fell behind 7-3, rallied for 3 runs in the 9th and eventually came up short 7-5.

Only pitcher of note was Ricardo Quintana. Quintana has been in the organization for 3 years now. In small sample sizes, he was stout in 2022, bad in 2023 and now is pitching well here in 2024. 0.00 ERA in very limited action (4.2 IP). On the flip side, Nelfri Payano faced 8 batters, walking 2 of them. He added in 2 hit batsmen, a wild pitch and a balk.

    Sammy Stafura singled and doubled.
Bernard Moon singled twice and was hit by a pitch.
Sheng-En Lin singled twice and doubled. Lin has been playing 3rd base.
    Luis Reyes homered (1).
    Diego Omana walked twice.
    Brayan Rijo singled and doubled.

It's really good seeing Stafura break out after his miserable debut last year.

He was drafted out of high school from a cold weather state. I expected him to have a rough debut but not that rough. The great start is super encouraging. The defense still needs some work though. He has 7 errors in 14 games as a shortstop.
