That's a pretty old AA team. Yet another indication of the state of this organization.

Re: 2006 Chattanooga roster released(Gardner and Pauly on roster)
There's a zillion pitchers on that roster. They won't all be active. I wouldn't be surprised if Gardner and Pauly both start out on the DL. My prediction for Chatt's April rotation:
Dumatrait, Valdez, Paduch, Medlock, Chick

Re: 2006 Chattanooga roster released(Gardner and Pauly on roster)
Personally, I'm interested to see how Calvin Medlock responds to his first action in Chattanooga. He's only 23, so I imagine we're still at least a year removed from seeing his first "cup" in the show, but it'd be good to see him hit the ground running in AA anyway.
He's a prospect flying a bit under the radar right now (not in the BA Top 10), so anything that he develops into has to be seen as a big win for the Reds.

Re: 2006 Chattanooga roster released(Gardner and Pauly on roster)
I'm surprised they brought Rick Asadoorian back. They failed to promote Ryan Hanigan, David Shafer, Jeff Bruksch, Jeremy Schmidt, or Phil Dumatrait to AAA. Hanigan and Dumatrait earned it, too.
But Chris Dickerson, Carlos Guevara, Jim Paduch, Danny Tiburcio, Luis Bolivar, Jeff Urgelles and Calvin Medlock get the bump, Miguel Perez and Travis Chick are where they should be and Brock Till and has 98-mph fastball get kept. Kyle Edens and Erik Lohse staying are other minor surprises. I'm also happy to see Tyler Pelland and Homer Bailey not on this list. I hope BJ Szymanski joins it as soon as possible. I am interested in keeping up with Javon Moran this season. He is a bit old at 23, but then again if he continues to produce he might find himself in AAA something this season.

Old indeed. I don't think of mid-20 somethings as being the guys upon which a foundation is built, in AA anyway.

Re: 2006 Chattanooga roster released(Gardner and Pauly on roster)
23 is mid 20's?
does that mean 38 is early 40's? cuz if it does, I'm going to be depressed in about a month and a half.

Re: 2006 Chattanooga roster released(Gardner and Pauly on roster)
Moran was drafted out of college, so this is only his third full pro season plus the half-season post-draft.
He won't be 24 until September 30th. |

Wayne's a relief pitcher and has been in the minors for six years. Originally drafted by the Red Sox and most recently with the Cardinals.
