Re: Pitching so far AA and below...

My early calls:
1.Sam Lecure: While his ERA doesn't look good now, his K numbers and control tell me better things are in store for him in the future as he adjusts.
2.Bailey: I already have made my case for him in other posts.
3.Travis Wood: solid start, though I think he will improve when he is allowed to drive foward on the mound later in the season.
4.C.Fisher: older pitcher with some pop on his fastball, has a Brad Penny type of look, needs to get promoted by Summer.
5.Ward: Big disappointment, not impressed with Ward at all. He doesn't throw a power sinker and his secondary pitches have been average.
6.C.Vasquez: Nice start for him as he has regained his pop on the fastball now that it has been 2 years since TJ surgury.
7.Cueto: Raw power guy that will live up in the zone. Has gotten smacked somewhat, but also giving his own smacks in forms of K's.
8.T.Pelland: Holding his own in AA after getting overpromoted, hopefully he can adjust to put in a solid season.
9.T.Chick: Decent start for the highly debated pitcher. Hopefully he turns it on and developes that raw talent.
10.Che(Carlos)Guevara: dominant start
Some others to keep a eye on: Young,Val,Shafer and Medlock

Is that actually what's going on or is that just a rumor? I'm not doubting you because that's exactly what I thought when watching Wood the other day. He was just sort of tossing the ball up their and didn't have the explosive delivery he had in high school. If he can keep pitching like this with an upper 80's fastball, nobody will be able to touch him once he's allowed to bust out the 90-95MPH heater.

Ward must have some sort of sinker because he has been racking up groundouts in bunches, unfortunately he has struggled with his command and is not getting a lot of strikeouts. He did manage to rack up 6 K's in 5 innings yesterday, so maybe he is going to turn it around.

My dad was at the game yesterday when Ward pitched. Said he threw a few pitches similar to the one that got away from Shackelford last night. Right at the batter's rump, no break breaking balls. I think he hit 4 or 5 guys.

That's what I've been told also.

Re: Pitching so far AA and below...

I was at Mondays Dragons game when Ward pitched. His control is a little bit of a cuase for concern. He hit 2 guys in the first or second inning. He was getting ground balls like crazy all night when he kept the ball down in the zone. When he left it up though, its when he got in trouble. When he left the ball up, it got rocked and thats when he gave up runs. His walks and hit batters cost him some runs.
