    It's less of a crap shoot for teams that have outstanding scouting staffs, a good GM with strong selection criteria, good trainers and medical personnel along with smart minor league coaches that coach these players as part of an overall plan.

    For the Red's it has been a royal crap shoot most of the last 30 years...

    Good post, Edabbs44. I totally agree, but Scott Boras and his ilk are even depriving this avenue for too many teams. MLB probably needs to allow the trading of draft picks so that a Scott Kazmir doesn't slip away to a New York team simply because Boras has priced him out of everyone else's price range.
