    I prefer

    On the road again -
And I can't wait to get on the road again.
    On the road again -
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
    We're the best of friends.
Insisting that the world keep turning our way

    but that's just me.
School's out. What did you expect?

Just to recap the roster moves before today's game:

OF Jim Edmonds put on the 15-day DL
RP Jordan Smith optioned to Louisville Bats (AAA)
SP (but will be used out of bullpen) Sam LeCure recalled from Louisville Bats (AAA)
2B (but will be used in a utility infielder role) Chris Valaika called up (contract purchased?) from Louisville Bats (AAA)

In short: Edmonds to DL, Smith down, LeCure and Valaika up

    320
I'd rather listen to Kelch read the phone book than suffer through Thom Brennaman's attempt to make every instance on the field the most important event since the discovery of manned space flight. -westofyou

Valaika was already on the 40-man roster, so the Reds just recalled him from Louisville. They didn't have to purchase his contract.
Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman. Damn glad to meet ya.

Okay, wasn't sure how that worked. So he was already being payed the MLB minimum 400K, right?

Probably not. I would think he is on a split contract where he would be paid the minimum while in the major leagues but substantially less if he's in the minors.

Big chance to gain a game on the Cards tonight. Who would have thought the Pirates get a win on a night Wainwright starts.
