Felix Perez has K'd in three of four plate appearances tonight and Negron has the lone hit for Carolina.
Headed to the ninth, Mississippi up 6-2.

Justin Freeman with two solid innings of relief. One K, one BB, and no hits. I really like this kid.

Ballgame. Costanzo did manage a hit to give the Mudctas a grand total of two for the game.

    Final: Braves 6-2 over Carolina.

Cody Puckett singled in Miguel Rojas with one out in the ninth to give Lynchburg a 4-3 victory. It was Puckett's third hit. Neftali Soto had two, including a 3B (quite an accomplishment, given his speed). Shane Carlson and Kyle Day homered. Jeff Jeffords threw three innings of hitless relief and Abe Woody, working the ninth, picked up the win for the second night in a row.

Could we see Jeff Jeffords added to the 40-man roster in the off-season? He has been excellent as of late.

    Is that Hershel Freeman's son?

Freeman has always had a strong K:BB ratio. This year, in 63.2 IP in Lynchburg and Carolina, he has struck out 57 and walked only 8. And his ERA has come down nicely from previous years. The last month or two, he's really been on a roll. He's 23, and suddenly (to the amateur eye, anyway) one of the Reds' better prospects in the bullpen.

You're right. It would be grandson. Hershell was an excellent RH reliever for the Reds in the mid to late 50's.
