    Dear Reds fan,
Turn the channel and watch a team that's still in it then.

    Sincerely,
    The Reds

Poor price. Coaching the Reds bullpen is like playing Russian Roulette with 5 in the chamber.

Yep. I saw that too. Very questionable pitch selection. And poor execution of Coors (sic).

I can accept that this is a .500ish team with all the injuries and stuff going on this year without going into a rage. But I can't accept losing to the worst team in baseball in a fashion like that. This one is going to stick with me for a while.

Elite closers blow it all the time. Sometimes they even do it in disastrous fashion. I once watched Mariano Rivera blow three consecutive saves. I guess he wasn't elite enough.

Ummmm, I don't over react. Don't get too up when you win, don't get too down when you lose. That being said, that was a disgrace. JJ clearly doesn't belong in the bigs other than to serve as a scapegoat for the good folks at Red Zone, but like I said, he is the least of our problems. This is now an under .500 team with some guy named Axelrod ready to start the next game and nothing on the horizon. Can't blame it all on injuries or JJ or Walt. Too many under achievers. Time to start over.

JJ still has solid stats-- all those runs except 1 went to chapman.

    Re: 8/17/14 - Reds @ Colorado (Game 1 of 2)

"There are certain pieces to each pitcher's delivery that makes them very successful or vulnerable to missing locations," Reds manager Bryan Price said Friday. "I think he's really got his delivery in shape. And he's just feeling it."

Hoover, who has 48 hits allowed with 27 walks in 52 2/3 innings, has shown better command of his fastball and breaking ball of late. Earlier in the season, he was used in higher-leverage situations, especially when Jonathan Broxton and Aroldis Chapman were both on the disabled list.

Recently, Price has used Hoover in lower-leverage situations and Hoover has produced. He could increase his profile again with continued progress. Price remains in the right-hander's corner.

"Hoov kind of lost his way there for a while," Price said. "[But] I think he's proven he's an outstanding Major League pitcher. I can't let a two- or three-month stretch define who he is as a Major Leaguer. It's hard to find guys who pitch out of the bullpen that go four, five, six or seven years of real dominating performances. You don't want to quit on guys that have stretches of ineffectiveness."

Definitely in the top five ugliest losses for the Reds this season.
