    What I don't get is the line of thinking that could lead someone to believe that this was a good idea.

    People get hurt in baseball enough as it is... and these clowns want to institute military style training? There is a reason why the Pirates are the only team that thinks highly of this idea. I'm betting it stems from the same reason why they have not been successful in recent years: Poor management from the front office.

    Get some other people in charge of their FO and I would bet they come out better for it.

    I attend at least one Pirates ST game a year and always watch their morning practices. Last year they had Pedro Alvarez doing fielding drills on his knees. I have always seen this done at the high school level. It helps the fielder learn the rotation of the ball and how it's going to react when it hits the ground. However, it's very dangerous to do against live pitching which the Pirates were doing....
