Simple poll: are you happy with the hire?
Simple poll: are you happy with the hire?
I'm not dissatisfied, but I will reserve judgement.
I guess I don't trust myself because I was originally happy with the Baker hire...and then I became not so happy.
I guess I should have included an :/ in the poll options

Price can talk mechanics, arm slots and pitch selection, but his core philosophy is mostly about the mental part of the game.
“It’s very similar to what everyone else talks about: Being aggressive, working ahead and staying ahead in the count, composure, preparation and accountability,” he said. “The last one is the hardest. When you don’t succeed, it’s hard to own your own failure and not look for other places to blame.
“That’s real hard. Character is hard to find. We really try to make sure the starters understand their obligation to pitch innings. That’s one thing we’ve impressed upon them wherever we’ve been. Relief guys aren’t supposed to be in 80 games a year. And when they are, it’s because the starting rotation isn’t getting the job done.”

I am happy because Price was my favorite of the mentioned candidates.
I think the 100% (so far) happy votes may be more or less because we can end the 'Managerial Candidates' thread that was 30 pages long.

• ”I’m excited, I’m very excited. Over the past four year he’s been the pitching coach, I’ve obviously had a great relationship with Bryan and I think he’ll do great as a manager. I think the proof is in the pudding with how he’s handled the pitching staff, but something that transcends that, in my opinion, is how he communicates with players and the relationship he has, the respect that he’s gained by being a guy that communicates well and expects a lot out of each person. I think that’s something that is pretty pivotal in leading a team. I’m excited. He’s progressive, he’s intelligent, I believe this is a good direction for our team and our organization.”
“I respect him as a person and I imagine the people he brings in will be of the same level of preparation and he’ll expect and demand the same things that he does.”
I didnīt vote because I donīt know yet...
Dusty showed that he can form a winning (regular season) team but had problems to get the team in playoff mode...
Brian showed that heīs a great pitching coach but obviously had not a chance to show that heīs a big league manager...
dusty got blamed for his old school philosophy and lack of sabermetric knowledge (I agree), we donīt know brianīs philosophy yet...
dusty wanted chapman as closer (chapman wanted to be closer) and didnīt like to use him more often and only in the 9th inning... the problem I have is that I doubt that brian had opposite positions, I think he did have something to say as pitching coach himself and if he would have disagreed with his boss I doubt that he would be still in the reds organisation
I think the reason dusty got fired was obviously his lack of playoffs success and that they wanted to make a change for the players and aswell for the fans... I would have prefered a solution outside the organisation because it would be a bigger sign of change for the players => but than they would have needed a new pitching coach
Looks like a landslide in favor. 42-1 at the moment.
